Smithway Reports Record Third Quarter Earnings
10/26/2006 Smithway Motor Xpress Corp., Fort Dodge, Iowa, said net earnings improved 6 percent to $1.7 million for the third quarter this year compared to $1.6 million for the same quarter in 2005. For the first nine months of 2006, net earnings improved 24 percent to $4.3 million compared to $3.5 million in the 2005 period.

A man went to the hospital after an overnight shooting on Rochester’s east side. Friederich Park residents called 9-1-1 around 1:00 a.m. Thursday morning after a man knocked on their door and asked for help. When police arrived they found a man with gunshot wounds to his head and arm.
